Hack UMass Day 2

Our team ended up winning the prize for the best use of the Intel Edison today. We worked through most of the night to create a Python robotics framework called Zorg. Zorg is based on similar robotics frameworks written in high level languages by the Hybrid Group. The Hybrid Group has created three robotics frameworks, one in Node JS called Cylon, one in Ruby called Artoo and another called Gobot. Each of these projects is really cool and has a great design.

Each of the robotics frameworks uses an adapter pattern to represent the relationship between different embedded computing platforms (such as the Raspberry Pi or the Intel Edison) and various hardware that can be connected to these boards such as sensors and actuators.
